Some people come to Get in the Van with years of theatre experience. Others come because they want to try something new, develop a skill, meet people, or help make a show happen. Different productions need different people—and not every role requires previous experience.
If you're interested in joining the team, fill out the form! Anyone of any experience level is welcome and this form is for all positions, from producers and designers to admin and stage hands.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
Over the next six months, Get in the Van Productions will offer a wide variety of affordable, practical theatre classes and workshops. Topics will include acting, directing, lighting and sound design and tech, stage management, producing, script translation, and more. Whether you want to develop your existing skills, explore another part of theatre, or try something completely new, you will be able to choose whichever activities interest you—regardless of your current level of experience.
We have a basic structure in mind, but we want to build the program around what our community actually wants and needs. Please complete our interest survey to tell us what you would like to learn, what would make it easier for you to participate, or what you might be interested in teaching. The survey will help us design the program and is not a commitment to participate.

PRACTICUM SHOWCASE
After the classes and workshops conclude, participants who want to continue will be matched into small production groups. Each group will prepare a short one-act play, giving participants the opportunity to apply what they have learned as performers, directors, designers, technicians, stage managers, translators, and producers. The finished one-acts will then be presented together in a public showcase for the community. The Get in the Van Team will act as guides, producers, and consultants to ensure that the process goes smoothly, ensuring that everyone is able to comfortably flex their new muscles and explore freely. Get in the Van will also handle all production logistics and funding meaning that you'll be free of the normal stresses of a full-on production.
As a nonprofit organization, we want this program to be as accessible as possible. Participation fees will be kept low and used to cover necessary costs such as venue rental and instructor compensation rather than to generate income for Get in the Van.

Casting calls are announced separately for each production. Audition requirements vary depending on the show, but we welcome performers from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Our productions are performed in English with Korean subtitles, and our rehearsal process includes workshops and training designed to help the cast develop the skills needed for the production.

Education is part of how we make theatre.
During the rehearsal process, Get in the Van provides training for cast members and crew to develop performance and technical skills specific to the production. We also organize public workshops and other learning opportunities for people who want to explore theatre, improve their skills, or try something new.
